Fancy Frugal Life: Before & After French Label End Table

Before & After French Label End Table

Our small end table (Target circa 2005 ish) had seen better days! It was all nicked up and I about threw it in the garage sale pile several times. But then I thought I'd try to save it and give it a little makeover! I chose the color Catalina Mist from Krylon because it is dreamy and goes with the room and the hutch!

This is how it looked after I sprayed it...Still kinda plane jane.

So I picked a fab french looking scrapbook paper print and used Mod Podge to attach to the bottom part.

And then I discovered The Graphics Fairy! How fun is that site? I saw several examples of how to use her labels and I decided to use the pencil transfer method for this great french chocolate label.

First I sized and printed out the label. Then I colored the entire back of the paper with pencil and taped it to the table. I used a pen to trace over all the details and when you remove the paper the pencil remains. Then I carefully used a brown paint pen to fill in the pencil. It was time consuming but soooo worth it! I love the result!

I'm crazy for monograms so here is another fun way to incorporate it through a new drawer pull from Hobby Lobby! I also sanded the edges of the table and legs a tiny bit.

Here she is with my fav Goodwill gold box I painted white! ahhh much better, dontcha think?!

xoxo

This little blue table is just so sweet and Frenchy! Good idea to tie in the background color of the hutch to the table. :-)

I LOVE it!! I keep saying that I'm going to make a french table, but haven't yet!!! Need to! I've actually had in my plans for years to use a french theme in my bathroom. Maybe I could do a cute vanity! :)

I just LOVE this! It really caught my attention because I just finished a table and I wanted to add some type of 'French' design and was wondering how to do it other than spend 30.00 for a stencil! Off to Graphics Fairy I go! Can I ask what 'type' of paint pen you used and where you got it?

Thanks for showing how the pencil transfer works. I've read people saying they've done that, but wondered how well the pencil marks showed. I really like the end results of all your hard work!

Wow, it looks great! I thought the words were Uppercase Living decals but I bet it looks even better in person since it's actually hand-painted. I'd never heard of transferring a design like that. Great job!
