Chalkboard Paint Organizing

Do you feel like as soon as the kids start school you're bombarded with kid clutter? I'm determined to keep it off the kitchen counter and here is my tiny "command station" I created by the garage door.

The white wood organizer we've had awhile from our old house and was currently stored in the garage...It was a 20$ Ross find and is actually pretty heavy and nice.

It's kinda hard to find inexpensive, attractive organizing tools so my solution was to find some plain 10$ document hangers from Office Max and paint them with my fav Krylon Chalkboard spray paint.

I also found a scrap piece of wood and sprayed that as well. We screwed 3 white hooks ($1.99 each from Hobby Lobby) to the board for some hanging storage.

I had some cute black and white scrapbook paper and used Mod Podge to apply on the sides of the document holders.

I feel so much better with an area for the kids to throw there "Stuff" after school!
The hanging space is the perfect height for them :)

Yeah for backpacks and lunches not on the floor!

Thanks for stoppin by :)

OH I am SO pinning this!! What great ideas! My kids are all grown and married or off to college but we are so limited on space in our tiny house that I can see this inside my basement door for organizing things. Really, inside ALL of my closet doors! Thanks for a great idea!

Love this!! I have a little space by our garage door like that and I've never thought of utilizing it like this, very clever! It seems like I'm always needing to write a quick note about something so the chalkboard on the organizers is perfect! And the hooks for backpacks, love them! I'm for sure pinning this idea. OMGoodness. I think we are sharing a brain this week. I'm working on exactly the same thing by our garage door. We're only a week into school, and I was going crazy trying to figure out the perfect space on our kitchen wall next to our garage door to organize their schoolwork and backpacks. Mine is going to be a little different though, I'll keep you posted. Too funny!

BTW, I love yours!
