Fancy Frugal Life: DIY Chalkboard Wedding Plate

DIY Chalkboard Wedding Plate

I am attending a wedding next month and wanted to try out chalkboard spray paint so when I found a cute cream colored dish at Goodwill for $2.99 I knew this was my next project for a gift! Hooray for wedding season. I just love these happy occasions.

my plate had a gray line around it so after a lot of taping we were ready to rock the spray paint.

I did two coats and let it dry 24 hrs. That's it!

And in case you haven't seen the Pottery Barn version (no longer available) they were pretty pricey at $99 for 2.

This was super easy and even my hubby was impressed at how great this looks in our kitchen, so guess what? We are keeping this! LOL Do you ever make something you love too much to give away? Don't worry now I have an excuse to make another :)

P.S I scored that cool looking vase to put my cooking spoons in at Goodwill for $3.99...love it!

How cute would this be displayed on a wedding table?!

Speaking of weddings.....My cute brother is newly engaged to his fiance and we are in the very beginning stages of wedding planning for spring 2012. I say we because they asked me to help with a fancy frugal wedding! Awesome! I am beyond excited :)

My soon to be SIL and I have been swooning over this simple yet classy vintage outdoor wedding using yellow, gray and green spring colors.

I love the idea of using a typewriter for notes to the couple!

Image from Hello To Hitched

Look at all these neat birdcages! Ahhh lovebirds :)

Old suitcases and letters would also fit great!

Here's to new love and weddings!

P.S. Let me know if you have any frugal tips and know of any budget friendly places for this type of outdoor wedding in the Phoenix area. Thanks,

xoxo

Love the plate idea. I'd never have thought of that! Definitely going to give it a try.

Depending on how big a wedding their planning I went to one last summer that was pretty small and the bride had requested that everyone bring a covered dish. They had fried chicken and all cake and all the yummies their guests brought. Since it was close friends and family no one was offended and it really made the wedding feel very special.

Wedding planning is so much fun. I found you on the blog party. My best tip for wedding planning is to make a budget and stick to it. My husband and I came under budget because of that. Also, watch the guest list. I love this plate, I may try it myself.

I don't blame you for keeping it. The good thing about Goodwill is that there are plenty of plates, so it will be easy to recreate this for your friends.

Congrats to your brother and his future bride!

So great, I have loved using the chalkboard paint and have used on GW silver trays. Didn't think of pottery. Noticed your mashed potato utensil, check out my current post and how I used one. Your photo's are better than mine, much better.
